

Born July 19, 1930 in Greene County to James and Juanita (Lockhart) Hurt, he married Peggy Abeln on February 1, 1957 in Kane.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Melissa Hurt of Pekin and two sisters, Mary Lou Davis and Sue Carol Jones, both of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Vivian Hurt; four brothers; and one sister.
Lyn worked for Archer Daniels Midland in Peoria for 11 years, retiring in 1993 as an oiler. Previously, he had worked at Corn Products Corporation in Pekin for 23 years as a pipefitter.
He served as a chaplain's assistant attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin and its Heavenbound Sunday school class. He also served as an usher.
Lyn enjoyed fishing, gardening and was a devoted family man.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009at First Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
