Mabel Arlene Johns

Mabel A. Johns, 93, of Farmington, formerly of Glasford, passed away at 6:15 PM on Friday, March 17, 2018, at Farmington Country Manor. She was born on November 14, 1924 in Glasford to Rufus and Lorna (Scarcliff) Martin. She married Ralph D. Johns on September 5, 1942. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1984 in Glasford. She was also preceded by two great grandsons, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by two sons, Larry D. Johns of Ruskin, FL and Daniel L. (Jane) Johns of Farmington; one daughter, Krista M. (Fred) Reber of Mapleton; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Mabel had been a secretary for the Wahlfeld Mfg. Co. Prior to this she was a stenographer clerk for the Illinois State Hospital in Bartonville. She retired in 1980. She was a member of the Glasford United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Glasford Homemakers Extension, and the American Legion Auxiliary #35 of Glasford. Mabel’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were the lights of her life. She enjoyed making pies and dozens of “Turtles” for the holidays. She also enjoyed planting her flowers and playing in her Pinochle Club. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Pastor Ethan Carnes will officiate. Friends may call upon the family for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Glasford United Methodist Church.
