

Born April 3, 1921 in Walnut, Mississippi to Ollie Wade and Grace Katherine (Hobson) Luker, she married Anzel Ray Woolf on November 14, 1944 in Salem, Missouri. He died on January 4, 1984 in Harlingen, Texas. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Demetri Ann "Dee" Carrington on March 8, 1989 in Phoenix, Arizona and Melba Sue York on May 29, 2003 in La Crosse, Wisconsin; one great-grandson and four brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy J. (Anthony) York and Rose E. (Daniel) Phillips, both of Pekin; Fifteen grandchildren, Stephanie (Jim) Snook, Vicky (Larry) Sauder, both of East Peoria, Jennifer (Joel) Meints of Athens, David (Kristi) Carrington, Isaac (Angel) Carrington, Julie (Michael Petrone) York, Steven (Theresa) York, John (Courtney) York, Melissa Gran, all of Pekin, Mark (Tina) York of Marquette Heights, Tony (Tracy) York, Jr. of Delavan, Rita (Bud) Towne of Wisconsin, Mickey (Theresa) Haynes, Jr. of Arkansas, Kim (Paul) Eudaily of South Pekin and Bruce York of Manito; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Joyce Filarski of Pekin. She also leaves a multitude of nieces and nephews and a plethora of adopted family members.
Mamie first worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company in Memphis, Tenn., where she wrapped packages in the shipping department. She then worked for General Cable in St. Louis making wire for the United States Army. She last worked for Bemis Bag Company in Peoria in 1949 as a bag stacker.
Mamie was devoted to her Lord and Savior and was an active member of First Assembly of God in Pekin. She was active in the Women's Ministries of the church and served her church as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also participated in ministry to area nursing home residents and shut-ins.
She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and had a green thumb caring for her flowers and plants.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007at First Assembly of God in Pekin. The Rev. David Carrington, her grandson and Rev. Quinn E. McKenzie will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to The Shelter, Fusion, WMs' or the Peru Missions Trip at First Assembly of God, 1209 North Parkway Drive, Pekin, IL 61554.
