

Margie Carolyn (Hudson) Tomsha, 77, of Pekin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Pekin. Born on July 3, 1948, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, she was the eldest of six children born to James Willard Hudson and Wilma Jean (Bates) Hudson.
Carolyn graduated from Pekin Community High School in Pekin, Illinois, as part of the Class of 1966. She went on to lead a life filled with love for her family, her faith, and her many hobbies. A member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin since its inception, Carolyn was active in the church’s youth group during her teenage years. She sang in the choir until the mid-2000s and shared her passion for by leading Sunday School classes in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Carolyn married Peter George Tomsha and together they built a life centered on love and family until his passing on December 4, 2025.
She is survived by her only child, Tammi M. Tomsha of Pekin. Carolyn also leaves behind her siblings, Sarah "Kathy" Hudson Bassett of Vero Beach, Florida, James Harold (Sandy) Hudson of Pekin, Gary R. Hudson of Pekin, and Kenneth D. (Kelly) Hudson of Vero Beach, Florida; and brother-in-law, Michael Hinman of Savannah, Georgia.
Preceding Carolyn in death were her parents; her husband, Peter George; her sister, Joyce "Annette" Hinman; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Carolyn had a creative spirit that shone through in her hobbies. She enjoyed cross-stitching and crocheting intricate designs that brought joy to those around her. A lover of games and camaraderie, she spent countless hours playing cards with friends and board games like Phase 10. An avid reader with a particular fondness for Grace Livingston Hill books, Carolyn took pride in collecting all the books written by the author. She also found joy in traveling to new places.
Her legacy is one of faithfulness and dedication—to her family, friends, church community, and personal passions. Those who knew Carolyn will remember her warmth and creativity as well as the many ways she enriched their lives.
Carolyn's graveside service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Rev. Dr. Larry Oats will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
