

Born April 23, 1933 in Pekin to Marion Samuel and Johanna W. (Trager) Garber, she married Donald Dean Alexander on June 13, 1970 in Pekin. He died May 15, 2021 in Green Valley. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Garner and two brothers, Kenneth Garber and Delmar Garber.
Surviving are one daughter, Cathy (Jim) Rader of Mackinaw; two sons, Steven (Diane) Garner of Mesa, Arizona and Rick Lee (Cindy) Alexander of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Kirt (Paige) Gibbs, Kristina (Joey) Nizzia, Kimberly (Shawn) Taylor, Shaine (Brady) Bushnell, Heather Garner, Johanna Garner, Steven Garner, Jr. and Kylee Alexander; seventeen great-grandchildren, Alexis (Darren) Raby, Jason Weaver, Ian Gibbs, Natalie Gibbs, Zoe Nizzia, Savannah Nizzia, Connor Taylor, Sophia Taylor, Josie Taylor, Eden Bushnell, Avery Bushnell, Drew Bushnell, Melissa Garner, Jackson Garner, Cayden Garner, Ethan Ball and Emberlynn Ball; one great-great-grandson, Levi Raby and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Garber of Gig Harbor, Washington and Karalyn Garber of Pekin.
A homemaker, Marilyn enjoyed reading. She was a quiet person who kept to herself. She did, however, enjoy playing bingo at the villas, where she resided. In earlier years, she enjoyed traveling on family trips, especially to Branson.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. Pastor Mark Drews will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral Monday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
