Born on October 17, 1942 in Pekin to Ned H. and Edith (Kimmel) Fisher, she married Richard Washburn on December 2, 1970 in Pekin. Her husband of 43 years died on April 13, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert Fisher, Richard Fisher and William Fisher.
Surviving are one step-daughter, Michele Litwin of Connecticut; two grandsons, Corey Litwin and Cameron Litwin; four great-grandsons; one sister, Margaret Jones of Peoria; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Marilyn graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1960 and then attended Methodist College of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for 33 years, which included serving in California and Connecticut. Most of her nursing career was spent in Medical-Surgical before retiring in 1991.
She loved spending time with her family, watching movies and listening to music, especially Josh Groban. She also loved dancing, shopping, and cooking for her family.
Marilyn formerly attended Northwest United Methodist Church in Peoria and was raised in the Presbyterian Church in Pekin.
Her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2024 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Her great-niece, Abbey Luka, will officiate. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements have been entrusted with Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
