

Born August 25, 1954 in Lynwood, California to Paul Edward and Ramona Joan (Smith) Stoneking, he married Sue Anne Orwig on June 26, 1993 at Heartland Christian Fellowship in Groveland. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Stephen (Karen) Stoneking of Republic, Missouri; one daughter, Marcy (Matt) Songer of Green Valley; his grandchildren that he loved and adored, September, Summer, Dawson, Braelyn and Kason; a great-granddaughter, Athena; one brother, David (Lori) Stoneking of Cuba; one sister, Karen (Bill) Durbin of Hopedale and many nieces and nephews.
Mark served in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1976. Interior Communications Electrician Petty Officer 2nd Class.
He worked for Commonwealth Edison Powerton Station for 35 years as a coal yard operator, retiring in 2012 from their successor company, Midwest Generation.
Mark was gifted with the ability to make or do most anything. He loved to make traditional black powder for shooting with muskets. He also was an expert sling shooter with glass marbles. Mark traveled extensively and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and riding motorcycles.
He attended Valley Chapel in Green Valley and was a member of the Tremont Sportsman’s Club.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at Valley Chapel in Green Valley. Pastor Nate Best will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral
