Marshall proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserves and worked for many years as an ironworker with Local 112. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and reliability—qualities that carried through every part of his life.
Marshall loved fishing, growing plants, grilling, smoking, watching movies and television, reading, and playing games. A true animal lover, he cared for countless pets and outdoor animals over the years. He was also a devoted fan of metal music, especially Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, King Diamond, and Mercyful Fate.
More than anything, Marshall cherished being a father. Time spent with his daughter was the center of his world. Those who knew him remember him as knowledgeable, giving, funny, hardworking, and deeply loving.
Marshall is survived by his daughter, Cassie Lovins (Darrell); his nieces and nephew, Megan and Jeffrey Lovins; his cousins, Karen Lovins and Dallas Leavelle; close friends including Myra Nykanen; and his former wife, Melissa Lovins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lovins; his mother, Betty Kaufmann; his brother, Jeffrey Lovins; and his grandparents, Emily and John Lovins.
Marshall's family has arranged a celebration of life gathering to be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Pekin Pavilion on the Lagoon in Mineral Springs Park in Pekin.
Cremation has been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
Memorials may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554, or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org.
