

Born August 2, 1934 in Monmouth to Wilbur and Doris (Bullwinkle) Ray, she married Dale Edward Pauley on November 27, 1954 in Monmouth. He survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Julie A. (Joe) Lambert of Mackinaw, Gayle M. (Warren) Compton of Selawik, Alaska, Andrea L. Eitenmiller of Pekin, Dalona K. (Rod) Standley of Pekin and Jelinda S. (Vince) Imig of Tremont; sixteen grandchildren, Nathaniel (Heather) Lambert, Jeremiah Lambert, Adam (Charity) Compton, Danielle (Scott) Wallace, Bethany Compton, Caleb Compton, Dustin (Selina) Eitenmiller, Shanda Eitenmiller, Kassandra Eitenmiller, Austin Standley, Chase Standley, Shay Standley, , Maria Imig, Melody Imig, Josiah Imig and Isaac Imig and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Jane (Pros) Dolieslager of Atkinson and Joyce (John) Talley of Marion, Iowa and two brothers, Don (Harriet) Ray of Monmouth and Wayne (Beth) Ray of Evansville, Indiana.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She was a 1959 graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
Mary Ann worked as a substitute teacher for many years for Pekin Community High School District 303 and Pekin Public Schools District 108. She was a member of the Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was a Deaconess and Secretary of the Mission Committee for many years. She also taught Children’s Church and participated in the Women’s ministries of the church. She also served the church as a superintendent of Vacation Bible School.
Mary Ann was raised on the family farm and was active in 4H. She later supported her grandchildren in 4H and won the first grandparents swine showmanship event ever held at the Heart of Illinois Fair. She was an accomplished gardener and loved to travel.
Her funeral will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. A processional will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 for graveside services following in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church Missions Fund, 700 South Capitol Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
