

PEKIN ~ Mary Perethasore Dinquel, 81, of Pekin passed away at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born June 11, 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of James and Maud (Lukeman) English. She married Jack C. Dinquel on October 19, 1951 in Boston. She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years and five children, John (Barb) Dinquel of Moline, Rita DeSollar of Beardstown and Pekin, Jim (Lori) Dinquel of Pekin, twins Paul (Elaine) Dinquel of Villa Park and Elise (Fred) Zwicky of Pekin. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Dustin (Corrie) Salmon and Camille (Shannon) Salmon; Megan, Kristen and Sean Zwicky; and Bryan Dinquel, all of Pekin; Lucas (fiancée Karen Dringenberg) Dinquel and Matthew Dinquel, both of Chicago; Julie, Lisa, and Jeff Dinquel of Villa Park; Kristina, Kayla and Becky Dinquel of Moline; and four great-grandchildren, A.J., Avery, and Allie Salmon of Pekin and Gabe Robinson of Moline. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bill Grant, and her sisters, Helen English, Rita Napolitano and Alice Mazzucco. Lovingly known to many as "Nana," Mary considered her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be her pride and joy and her greatest accomplishment. She was very much loved by all her family. Mary enjoyed working as a telephone operator in her younger days, but left that job to become a Navy wife and a mom, a life that brought her much joy. She was a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout troop leader when her children were young. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and always remembered for her loyal friendship, her generous heart, her great sense of humor and her feisty spirit. Mary was of the Catholic faith. No funeral services are planned, but the family will receive friends in a celebration of Mary's life from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in the undercroft at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 411 Washington Street in Pekin. Cremation rites will be accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association at 801 Roeder Road, Suite 400, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910.
