

Born March 20, 1931 in Hammond, Indiana to Devoe and Leta (Bishop) Taylor, she married Harvey L. Gerecke on April 6, 1952 in Pekin. He died in 1992 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Surviving are four daughters, Susan (Dr. Richard) Lane of Franklin, Tennessee, Nancy (Joel) Bonnette, Linda Turney, and Tracy (Michael) Dansby, all of Pekin; one son, Robert (Cyndy) Gerecke of Chicago Heights; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sisters, Shirley Snyder of Peoria and Donna Arnold of Pekin.
A homemaker, Mary enjoyed sewing and being with her family and friends. She was a former Brownie leader and 4H leader. She had been a volunteer at Pekin Hospital and Nearly Nu Shop in Pekin.
She was an active member of Saint John's Lutheran Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Mark A. Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
