Born March 17, 1959 in Chicago to Maurice John and Theresa Lillian (Finn) Duffy, she married Michael Bakaturski on February 14, 1979 in Niles. They later divorced. She later married Monserrate (Mike) Tardi on November 12, 2010 in Havana. Mike survives.
Also surviving are three sons, David (Rania) Bakaturski of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Patrick Bakaturski of Creve Coeur and Michael (Kimberly) Bakaturski of Detroit, Michigan; six grandchildren, Olivia Bakaturski, Isabella Bakaturski, Anastasia Bakaturski, Andrew Bakaturski, Claire Bakaturski and Lila Bakaturski; two brothers, Michael (Cindy) Duffy of Long Grove and John (Cristin) Duffy of River Forest; and two sisters, Eileen Fitzpatrick of Chicago and Ann (John) McCarthy of Glenview.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Theresa Duffy.
Mary loved the Jesus, gardening and cooking. She was a longtime cook in Chicago and also had worked as a social worker. She was proud of her Irish heritage as a first generation American.
Her funeral will be at noon Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 U.S. Highway 45, Indian Creek, where visitation will be held one half hour before the Mass. Father Ignatius Ike Anaele will officiate. Burial will follow the Mass in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
