

Born on March 18, 1942 in Pekin to H. Kenneth and Grace (Miller) Johnson, he married Judith Ann Miller on August 26, 1962 in Pekin. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2017. Michael was also preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Ashton Johnson; and one sister, Pam Strubhar.
He is survived by one daughter, Julie (Bryan) Ahten of North Pekin; one son, Andy (Tonya) Johnson of Mapleton; five grandchildren, Jake Ahten, Sara (Billy) Tindall, Madison Johnson, Mackenzie (Greg) Davis and Mallory Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; Kelea Peters, Olivia Tindall, Ella Tindall, Taylyn Johnson, Carter Davis, Everleigh Davis, Izzy Davis and Kolt Smith.
Michael was a graduate of Pekin Community High School Class of 1960.
He worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier until retiring on December 2, 1999. He also worked for Pekin Recycling from 2000 to 2012. He later worked as a driver for the Uftring dealerships for his retirement job.
He loved to fish wherever he could. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 209 and served on the Village of North Pekin Planning and Zoning Committee.
His visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation will follow with inurnment at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
