Mildred E Sheppard

Born October 12, 1928 in Pekin to Elmer and Ola Mae (Joesting) Hancock, she married Richard E. Sheppard on Dec. 21, 1946 in Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 25, 1966 in Pekin; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.

Surviving are 3 sons, Gregory (Bonnie) Sheppard and Richard Sheppard, Jr., both of Pekin, and Michael McGill of Florida; 1 daughter, Linda Maas of Pekin; 6 grandchildren, Jason (Bella) Maas, Jonathan (Lori) Maas, Jamie (Tyler) Thompson, Jason McGill, Ryan (Courtney) Sheppard and Ashley (Aaron) Martin; and 1 brother, Kenneth Joesting of Pekin.

Millie last worked as a Pekin school bus monitor. Previously, she had worked for American Distilling Company, A&P Supermarket, JCPenney, and Wal-Mart, all in Pekin, and Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin.

Millie was also a member of the Pekin Eagles Aerie 1869 Auxiliary, and Pekin Women of the Moose # 673.         . 

She was an avid Illini fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals.

Millie loved her butterfly bush in her back yard.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2009 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.  Rev. Michael Roberts will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 2009.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
