

Born September 9, 1933 in Roanoke to George and Marie (Marcy) Dupent, he married Mary Katherine Hall on October 4, 1953 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kevin M. (Kady) Dupent of Germantown Hills and Eric A. (Michelle) Dupent of South Pekin and five grandchildren, Christopher Scott DePeugh of East Peoria, Ace Anthony Dupent of South Pekin, Emily Trier, Madison Trier and Sophia Dupent, all of Germantown Hills.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Cory Lee DePeugh; one brother, Eli Dupent and one sister, Laura Barra.
He was a 1952 graduate of Pekin Community High School and had earned his Associates Degree in Fire Science from Illinois Central College.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a firefighter for the City of Pekin for 26 years, retiring in 1990 as fire inspector. He also worked as a laborer for his father-in-law with Hall Construction. His retirement job was as a driver for Pekin Prescription Lab.
Morris was a member and past president of Local 524 International Association of Firefighters and a retired member of Laborer’s Local 231 in Pekin. He had served on the Pekin Public Schools District 108 Board of Education. He also was a life member of Pekin Eagles Aerie 1869 and a former member of Pekin Moose Family Center 916.
Morris was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin, where he was a former Trustee, Elder and past president of the congregation. He also played the position of pitcher on the church’s softball team. He liked to fish, enjoyed bowling and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Daniel J. Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, and also from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites provided by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Firefighter honors will be provided by the Pekin Fire Department Honor Guard.
