

Born August 4, 1942 in Boss, Missouri to Clarence E. and Mabel (Hedrick) Martin, he married Bonnie L. Middleton King on September 1, 1963 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Kristine Martin, Steven Martin, Aaron Martin all of Pekin and Bryan Martin of Manito; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; five siblings, Eliza Martin, Johnny (Regina) Martin, Joann Nichols, Geraldine (Ronnie) Clauson and Glinda "Sissy" (Dave) Towery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Douglas Martin; two sisters; and one brother.
Norman had worked in the boiler room for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for over 31 years, retiring in 1997.
Norman was a 48 year member and Past Master of Empire Lodge #126 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Pekin and a member and Past Master of Verlin M. Showalter #1172, now Joseph Robins #930, of Bartonville. He belonged to the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Peoria. He also was an honorary member of the Manito Masonic Lodge #476.
He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Pastors Dale and Tammy Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where masonic rites will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Manito.
