

Born July 25, 1935 in Green Valley to Phillip and Eugenia (Bailey) Goeken, she married Carl A. Williams on February 22, 1973 in Havana. He passed away September 18, 2004. She also was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ben Goeken.
Surviving are her son, Kevin (Dawn) Tate of Manito; two granddaughters, Ashton (Evan) Kubina of Diamond and Tiffany Tate of Iiyama, Japan; and three great-grandchildren, Holly Kubina, Lillian Kubina and Piper Kubina, all of Diamond; one sister, Frances (Tom) Sheets of Lacon; and one sister-in-law, Rose Goeken of Green Valley.
A homemaker, Phyllis cherished her family. She was an excellent cook and loved to travel and read. She had a heart for animals, and especially loved her white cats.
Phyllis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Green Valley. She was proud to have been the first ordained elder for her church. She taught Bible study classes, Sunday school classes and was involved in the Women’s Group.
Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Charles Houston will officiate. There will be no visitation.
