Rachel F Vaughn

CREVE COEUR ~ Rachel F. Vaughn, 69, of 109 South Stewart Street, passed away at 11:04 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born July 14, 1941 in Inkster, MI to William Wallace and Gladys Marie (Grimes) Smith, she married Darrell G. Vaughn on August 13, 1976 in Canton.  He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Jackson (Lori) Vaughn of Batesville, AR, Dan Vaughn and Michael Shane (Tiffany) Vaughn, both of Creve Coeur; one daughter, Julie (Jerry) Rhoades of Creve Coeur; nine grandchildren, Matthew Vaughn, Erik Vaughn, Cody Vaughn, Taylor Vaughn, Christopher Michael Vaughn, Christopher Bryan Underwood, Khaleena Rhoades, Sydney Rhoades and Skye Rhoades and two sisters, Lillian Murray and Bertha Rhone, both of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and three sisters.Rachel last worked for the Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria as a housekeeper for more than 10 years, retiring in 1992.  She enjoyed making crafts and was a fan of NASCAR.  She also was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs.

She lived for her grandkids.  They were her life.

Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.  There will be no visitation.  Cremation has been accorded.
