Richard Eugene Blackburn

PEKIN~ Richard “Dick” Eugene Blackburn, 70, of Pekin, passed away on March 14, 2023 at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago. Born July 19, 1952 in Pekin to Richard and Carleen (Hootman) Blackburn, he was raised by his grandparents, Carl and Mary Hootman. He married Linda Lohnes on May 14, 1971 in Pekin. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Katie Meyers of Pekin; one son, Clint (Trisha) Blackburn of Pekin; three grandchildren, Alivia Meyers, Ethan Meyers and Xavier Blackburn and one brother, Gary Blackburn of New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and one brother, Bobby Blackburn. Dick worked for Caterpillar, Inc. retiring in 2002. He was a member of the North Pekin AMVETS Post 169 and the Bartonville American Legion 979. Dick was a self-proclaimed food critic who enjoyed meals with the guys and meatloaf Monday’s. Riding his motorcycle and fishing (in his younger years) have also brought pleasure to his life. He looked forward to spending time with his family and offering his unsolicited wisdom on most topics. A gathering celebrating Dick’s life will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1869 in Pekin. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to The Sons of The American Legion.
