

Richard A. Bruder Sr., 79, of Pekin, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and his beloved dog, “Maxine”. He was born on November 13, 1935 in Pekin, Illinois to Alfred and Mildred (Brann) Bruder. He married Edith Ellen Collins on November 23, 1956 in Havana, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2015 in Pekin, Illinois. He was also preceded in death by his son in law, Gene Gregory and his sister, June Davis.
He is survived by five children, Debra Gregory of Marquette Heights, June (David) McCurdy, Tammie (Dennis) Conover both of Pekin, Richard (Penny) Bruder II of San Jose, and Roger (Joline) Bruder of East Peoria. He has 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
He worked 37 years as a foreman at the Keystone Steel and Wire Company and 16 years for the Tazewell County Maintenance Department, last working April 15, 2015.. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Pekin where he served as a Deacon. Richard was a Navy Veteran where he was a steel worker 3rd class. He loved to camp and was a master woodworker. He was a former Scout leader and a member of the Hoot Owl CB Radio Club. He was an election judge for many years.
Memorial services will be Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church of Pekin. The Rev. Michael Roberts will officiate. A visitation will be from 9 AM until 11 AM on Friday at the Church. Cremation rites have been accorded and Inurnment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.
