

He was born February 4, 1952 in Peoria to Hazel Howard and Frances Lorraine (Lackey) Diamond.
He is survived by two brothers, Ronald (Linda) Diamond of East Peoria and Larry (Mary) Diamond of San Marcos, California; one sister, Linda (Don) Theesfeld of Coralville, Iowa; two nephews, Don Diamond, Jr. and Daniel Diamond of Illinois; three nieces, Kim (Tom) Hepner of Illinois; Stephanie (Matt) Parson of Arkansas; Michelle (Brandon) Stalzer of Iowa and a treasure-trove of great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one older brother, Donald.
Richard graduated from Bradley University with a Business Degree in 1974. He also completed an apprenticeship at CATERPILLAR, INC. where he worked as a machinist from 1975 until 2000. Richard has been on permanent long-term disability since 2000-subsequently suffering a cranial aneurysm on August 3, 2003.
Richard was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Bradley basketball fan. He also enjoyed gardening.
He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
His Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Rev. Douglas Lightly will officiate. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
