

Born September 3, 1947 in Peoria to Charles A. and Edna (Donath) Gale, he married Doris Clark on June 30, 1976 in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tonia M. Gale of Green Valley and Candi M. Gale of Creve Coeur; four sons, Donald (Terena) Miller of Pekin, David W. Gale,Sr. of Mason City, Richard W. (Amy) Gale of Pekin and Jason S. Gale of Forest City; nineteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Richard was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Pekin, where he enjoyed partaking in their many activities.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Richard worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in the Foundry and then on the assembly line, retiring from Mossville after 32 years of service.
A family man, his grandchildren were his world. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, family cookouts and playing horseshoes.
His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor Randy Justus will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria at 12 Noon Tuesday.
Military graveside honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
