

Born February 4, 1938 in Warsaw, Indiana to George Everett and Kathryn (May) Gay, he married Martha E. Lindquist on December 13, 1958 in Calumet, Michigan. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, David (Donna) Gay of East Peoria; two daughters, Lorraine (Dan Dombek) Washburn of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Sandra Gay of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lawrence Gay.
Dick was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He had worked as a computer technician for General Electric, Honeywell and Brandt. He later worked at Welsh Systems in Peoria, before retiring in 2009.
Dick enjoyed reading, working outdoors and feeding and watching wildlife.
He was a former member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin, where he served as an Elder, taught Sunday school and led small groups and Bible studies. He later became a member of Congregational United Church of Christ in Pekin teaching Sunday school and leading small groups.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Judy Steger Kennedy will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
