Born May 30, 1953 in Pekin to William and Bonnie Loraine (Van Buren) Diegel, he married Barbara Jean Hilst on July 28, 1972 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Steven (Caroleen) Harper, Richard Diegel and Michael Diegel, all of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Ciara Harper, Tristen (Wally) Kohtz, Stephanie (Rob) Jones, Taylor (Michael Artman) Harper, Chance Harper, Brieanna and Makayla Diegel; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jay Diegel of Pekin and three sisters, Bonnie (Greg) Holeman, Julie Wiseman and Tara Diegel, all of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Diegel.
Rick was a retired member of Laborers Local 231 in Pekin, where he worked out of for 37 years.
He loved fishing, camping four wheeling and boating, but his greatest joy was having family cookouts and enjoyed such a wonderful, loving family. His family was his pride and joy.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Chip Herbert will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
