

Born April 27, 1931 in Pekin to Maurice and Jennie (Ingrassia) Funk, he married Lettie Vernice (Clayton) Mayberry on May 1, 1992 in Pekin. She died October 3, 2024 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, JoAnn Reeves.
Surviving are three sons, Bob (Amy) Funk of West Newbury, Massachusetts, Steve (Terry) Funk and Greg (Terri) Funk, both of Pekin; his bonus daughters, Valerie Johnston of Pekin and Sheri (Jim) Robison of Hopedale; eight grandchildren, Katie (Shae) Birkey, Tyler (Dara) Funk, Bradley (April Haynes) Funk, Jennifer (Chad Young) Funk, Emily (AJ Snovel) Funk, Tom (Jenn) Funk, Jeff (Stacey) Funk and Seth (Jessica) Kenny; four bonus grandchildren, Andrea (Randy) Drake, Nicole Antovoni, Timothy Johnston and David Robison, eight great-grandchildren, Brooks, Jens, Anders, Quinn, Marley, Ryder, Michael and Jack; eight bonus great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hudson, Oliver, Gianna, Dino, Enzo, Axel and Aubrie and two nieces, Kristine (Robin) Cupi and Cheryl (Allen Spencer) Hill, both of Pekin.
He proudly served six years with the Illinois Air National Guard.
Bob worked for Central Illinois Light Company for 44 years, retiring in 1993 as a senior relay technician in the Electric Department in the Peoria District.
After retirement, Bob and Vernice spent many winters in Florida where they enjoyed the sunshine, playing lots of golf and making many lifetime friends. In addition to his love for golf, Bob enjoyed fishing and bowling for many years. He also enjoyed working around the yard.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pekin Moose Lodge.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025 at Preston Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
