

Born December 10, 1925 in Chillicothe to Charles and Grace (Babcock) Gass, he married Patricia L. Coakley on April 5, 1952. She died April 29, 2007. He also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy (Ken) Low of Glasford, Patti (Don) Coats of Cuba; two sons, Larry (Carolyn) Gass of Peoria and Rob (Diane) Gass of Chillicothe; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Gass and Jerry Gass and two sisters, Joanne Kinney and Judy Hibbert.
Robert worked for Hiram Walker & Sons in Peoria for many years. He had served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3883 in Bartonville.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 at Glasford United Methodist Church. Rev. Walter Wilkins will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery. Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
The family requests no flowers, and suggests that memorial contributions be made in Robert's name to the Illinois Veteran's Home at 1707 North 12th St. Quincy, IL 62301.
