

Born August 28, 1951 in Winchester, Virginia to Franklin Montgomery and Ruth Virginia (Fishel) Barley, he married Melissa Jane Reed Calhoun on October 3, 1986 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of Winchester; four sons, Eric (Regina) Barley of Pekin, Greg Barley of Palatine, Vance Calhoun of Manito and Victor (Billie) Calhoun of Peoria; four grandchildren; two brothers, Ron (Connie) Barley of Mineral, Virginia and Martin (Cathy) Barley of Winchester and one sister, Joyce McKee of Winchester.
His father preceded him in death.
Roger worked 22 years for the Goodyear Auto Service Center located at 8915 Knoxville Avenue in Peoria as a mechanic and service manager, last working on April 10th.
He was a member of several civil war re-enactment groups including Company C, 8th Tennessee Infantry CSA and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Iowa Division. Roger enjoyed woodworking.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006at Second Reformed Church, 600 State Street in Pekin. The Revs. Susan Curtis and Steven Boze will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2006at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Iowa Division.
