

EAST PEORIA ~ Ronald Edward Childers, 72, of Spindler Campground, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in the emergency room at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was formerly of Pekin.
Born December 20, 1933 in Bartonville to Melvin and Eva (Schockley) Childers, he married Thelma Lorene McCue in 1952 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael W. (Beverly) Childers of Pekin and David L. (Rickey) Childers of Manito; two daughters, Kathleen A. (Farris) Allen of Littleton, Colorado and Connie J. Schappaugh of Dacono, Colorado; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lloyd E. Childers.
Ron was a member of Carpenters Union Local 644 in Pekin, working out of the hall for 40 years, last in 1994.
A lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1869 in Pekin, he wintered in Rio Hondo, Texas. He enjoyed fishing and playing euchre. In earlier years, he had enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and hunting.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.Friday, June 2, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
