

Born January 23, 1948, in Canton, he was the eldest son of Harry and Verna (Vaughan) Clark. He married Linda K. Riley on June 20, 1970 in Canton. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Ryan (Trisha) Clark of Pekin; one daughter, Stephanie (Ben) Hull of Pekin; four grandchildren, Reese Richardson, Emma Clark, Bella Clark and Carter Hull; one brother, David (Sally) Clark of Kissimmee, FL; two nieces and one nephew. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Kathleen Clark of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dan Clark; and a nephew, Christopher Clark.
A 1966 graduate of Canton High School, he was a 1970 graduate of Illinois State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
He worked for Oak Grove School District 68 as a 7th and 8th grade math teacher for 31 years, retiring in 2003 from the West School in Bartonville. He was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
Roy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin where he was a financial secretary for 5 years and a past member and chair of the Finance Committee.
Roy was a loving husband of 45 years, a devoted father, caring grandfather, inspiring teacher and an avid Cardinal baseball fan. He enjoyed painting, reading, playing chess, and working Sudoku puzzles.
His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Inurnment will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
