Roy Elvin Edwards passed away on June 22, 2021, at the age of 66, knowing he was loved. Roy was born on March 23, 1955, to Roy Edwards and Marie Livingston, in Peoria, Illinois. Roy was raised by his grandfather Alvin Livingston in Elmwood, Illinois after his mother passed away.
Roy graduated from Elmwood High School. He then spent 12 years in the United States Marine Corps, and stationed in Okinawa, Japan where he met Sadako his wife. Roy and Sadako were married on January 7, 1980. Roy had 2 beautiful kids while he was stationed in Okinawa, after 5 years he moved his family back to the states. Roy settled down and raised his family in South Pekin.
Roy was known for his work ethic, working a lot of hours, to support his family. Above all, Roy was a family man. His children fondly remember being tickled until they could no longer stand it, baseball in the yard, a game of CHESS, rubber band fights, tent camping across the states and much more. These are just a few of the things he was known for. His family wants you to know that he was so much more than this, and there is not a way to describe him in just a few words.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Sadako, of 41 years; children – Marie Dietrich and Charles Edwards; 5 grandchildren, Blake Dietrich, Jacob Dietrich, Lannah Edwards, Tristan Edwards, and Livia Edwards; stepmother Verna Keyes; and 8 siblings. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alvin Livingston; mother – Marie Livingston; brothers Terry Bouchez.
