Born Sept. 3, 1942 in Danville, she was the daughter of Jules Newlin and Margaret E. (McJilton) Duez. She married Samuel David Fraley on Mar. 24, 1990 in Pekin. He died Jan. 3, 2015 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are five children, Jewell “Julie” Olsen, Debbie (Joe) Macfarlane, Diane Kay (Scott) Zarley, Delene (Larry) Vaughn, all of Pekin and Dean (Brenda) Fraley of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren, Heather (Gene) Pennington, Joshua Petitt, Virginia (Evan) Bonnett, Tera Macfarlane, Robert Roots, Jamie (Josh) Schumway, Chelsea Churchill, Cameron Frailey, Samuel Fraley and Collette Fraley and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Sandy was a 1962 graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Surgical Technology.
She retired from a career as a surgical tech in 1999. She last worked for Associated Women’s Health Care in Deerfield. She previously had worked as a surgical nurse at Pekin Hospital for 8 years, for Dr. William Fraley for 11 ½ years and for Women’s Care in Milwaukee for 6 years.
Sandy was a member of First Baptist Church in Morton. She was an avid reader and enjoyed painting and crafting.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Ben Towell and Rev. Dr. Richard Shaw will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
