Sandra Lee Nieukirk

Born February 7, 1947 in Peoria to Merle and Frances (Stoetzer) Cherry, she married Roy Nieukirk on April 26, 1969 in Peoria.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years; one son, Tom (Cinnamon) Nieukirk of Panama City, Florida; one daughter, Cindy (Brad) Bainter of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Sam, Wyatt, Katelyn, Olivia, Jenilee and Carson and one sister, Patricia (Dennis) Brugger of Bradford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald Nieukirk and one sister, Joanne Cherry.

A homemaker the most of her life, Sandra had also worked as a package handler at FedEx in Morton and United States Postal Service in Blooming as a mail sorter. She also breed and raised Pomeranians.

Not afraid to try anything, Sandra was an avid collector of everything. She was an artistic person who enjoyed painting, crocheting and sewing. Her greatest fulfillment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her memorial visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
