Scott was born on January 25, 1952, in Pekin to Donald and Delores (Ozella) Elmore. He married the love of his life, Janis Lea Blair, on December 23, 1971, in Pekin, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned over 54 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janis; his four children, Aleigh (Matt) Stauffer of Flower Mound, Texas, Ivy (Matt) Grashoff, Erin (Brian) Goudie, all of Pekin, and Corey (Nikki) Elmore of Lexington, Illinois; his brother, Terry Elmore, and sister, Kristi Curto, both of Pekin. He was a proud and loving grandfather to eleven grandchildren, Casey (Rushmi) Stauffer, Jesse (Miranda) Stauffer, Carli (Conner) Lidiak, Jae Grashoff, Brady Grashoff, Emma Grashoff, Ryder Shaw, Macy Shaw, Jackson Elmore, Brody Elmore, and Evy Elmore; two step-grandchildren, Giana Goudie and Garin Goudie; and ten great-grandchildren, Liam, Milo, Asher, Boaz, Micah, Laila, Lily, and Nora Stauffer, and Carson and Tatum Lidiak.
Scott proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was the owner and operator of Elmore Financial Group for 45 years, retiring in 2022. Scott truly loved his work and the people he served. To him, his clients were never just clients; they were friends, many of whom became like family over the years.
Above all else, Scott loved his family fiercely. He was the kind of man you could always count on, the one who could fix anything, solve any problem, and make you feel safe and cared for. He found joy in the simple things: cheering on the Chicago Cubs, spending time hunting and fishing, and most of all, being “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a role he cherished deeply. He also shared a special bond with his loyal companion, Teddy Cat.
Scott was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate Carle Health Hospice team, especially Tara and Mark, for their exceptional care and support.
