Born February 19, 1942 to Lester and Greta (Black) Crafton, she married Leonard “Leon” Abbott on August 21, 1960 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are five children, Doug (Kimberly) Abbott of Manito, Greg (Melissa) Abbott of Byron, Jason Abbott of Atlanta, Georgia, Julie (Jack) Nieuwkoop of Manito and Kurt (Trisha) Abbott of Pekin; 10 grandchildren, Carly (Austin) Haddock, Lainee (Ben) Nickerson, Paxton Abbott, Payton Abbott, Parker Abbott, Cassy (Robb) Wicks, Haley Nieuwkoop, Jack Nieuwkoop, Jordain Engle and Bailey Abbott; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold Crafton and Bob Crafton and one sister, Wilma Harbough.
A homemaker, Sharon loved animals especially dogs, baking pies and cakes and cooking. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and was involved in all of their lives. She cherished the time they would all spend together.
She also worked for several years at Tims to Go later Old Thompsons in Manito making doughnuts. She also worked for several year as a home health-aid.
Sharon was a member of First Baptist Church in Manito and a devout Christian.
Her visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A private burial will be held at a later date at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
