

Born April 22, 1954 in Jacksonville to James H. and Virgie E. (Savage) Bridges, he married Valerie J. Dunn on July 22, 1983 in Mapleton. She survives.
Also surviving arehis mother of Roodhouse; two daughters, Stephanie (Rollin Meeker) Bridges and Angela (Brett) Green, both of Pekin; one son, Matthew Dirks of Joliet; six grandchildren; two brothers, Michael (Charlene) Bridges of Pittsburg, Texas and Richard (Kathy) Bridges of Roodhouse; and one sister, Debbie (Gregg) Ratliff of Pekin.
His fatherpreceded him in death.
He served with the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during the first Gulf War.
Terry worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections since 1994, last working as a corrections officer at the Lincoln Correctional Center in 2004.
He was a member of White Hall Lodge #80 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in White Hall.
Terry enjoyed fishing, gardening, creating stained glass works, writing poetry, and cooking.
His funeralwill be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2006at theKingston Mines United Methodist Church in Kingston Mines. Pastor James Reed and Pastor Kathy Barrett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. Private burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery in Kingston Mines.
