Born February 14, 1941 in Peoria to Leonard F. and Vinna (Copelen) Erxleben, she married Billy Keith Beever on November 1, 1957 in Pekin. He died April 14, 1997 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
Surviving are two daughters, Denise Martin and Diana (Randy) Sisk, both of Pekin; two sons, Billy Keith Beever, Jr. of Pekin and Kevin Beever of Manito; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Judy) Erxleben of Spring Lake; and one sister, Nola June.
Velma had worked as a dietary aide at Americana Nursing Home in Pekin and later for 18 years at Pekin Hospital.
She enjoyed shopping, going for car rides, and camping.
Her graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
