Born January 17, 1914 in Homer to William Grant and Zora A. (Cannon) Patten, he married Ettalee M. Treece on November 10, 1938 in Hannibul, Missouri. She died February 25, 1989. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
Surviving are one son, William Albert (Judy) Patten of Sun City, Arizona; one daughter, Judith (Ed) Williams of Pekin; three grandchildren, Allen (Kim) Wallman of Pekin, Sherry (Phil) Cohen of Las Vegas and James (Abbie) Patten of Peoria; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Roy (Rita) Patten of Catlin.
Walter was a self-employed finish carpenter for 50 years, retiring in 1986.
He was an avid reader and loved working with wood.
His graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Morton. Church ministers will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
