

Born March 7, 1922 in Buchanan, Michigan to Justin J. and Ruby M. (Hanover) Brown, she married Charles E. Smith on February 15, 1942 in Pekin. He died April 28, 1957. She later married Paul E. Peak on August 2, 1959 in Pekin. He died September 1, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ila Mae Smith.
Surviving are one son, Dr. Gregory (Marilee) Smith of Grand Island, Nebraska; one daughter, Valerie (Stephen) Ogilvie of Sleepy Hollow; one grandson, Scott Ogilvie of Seattle, Washington; three brothers, James (Chieko) Brown of Pekin, Robert (Dorothy) Brown of Lakeland, Florida, Harold “Pete” (Pat) Brown of North Palm Beach, Florida; and two sisters, Mary Boyer and Sharron Church, both of Pekin.
Wanda did alterations for many years out of her home and also for JC Penny’s and Allen’s Vogue, both in Pekin. Previously, she worked at Standard Brands in Pekin during 1943 and later worked at Caterpillar, Inc. from 1943 to 1948, working in the metallurgical lab.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Naomi & Rachel Circle. She was also a member of King’s Daughters in Pekin.
Wanda enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing pinochle, sewing, and needlework.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight (Friday) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
