

He was born on July 30, 1943, in Pekin, a son of Hans J. and Winifred Julia (Hartzell) Hagen, Sr.
Wayne married Patricia Bader on July 19, 1969, in Pekin. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2025.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Julia Rainville; and three siblings, Charles Hagen, Hans Hagen, Jr., and Deanna Zehr.
Wayne is survived by one daughter, Teresa (Terry) McMullen of Creve Coeur; 5 grandchildren, Patrice (Jeremy) Hancock of Peoria, and Katherine (Chad) Banks Sr. of Peoria; Nicholas Rainville of Texas, Taylor Rainville of Florida and Terry McMullen Jr. of Creve Coeur; and six great-grandchildren, Huntley McMullen, Rylynn Hancock, Karter Banks, Grayson Hancock, Chad Banks Jr., and Kara Banks.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam Conflict. Wayne was an Electrician at Caterpillar for over 26 years. After retiring he worked for Tom Williams and Ron Griffin doing heating and cooling. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the VFW Post 1232 in Pekin. Wayne loved tinkering with stuff, loved his bible, working in the yard, liked to go out and about to shop, he loved helping others and most of all he loved spending time with his family.
His visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory Pekin Chapel. Funeral service will start at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Stephen Barnes will officiate. Burial will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Air Force.
