

William was born on September 2, 1931 in Mason County to William and Birdie (Schaad) Clemons. He married Betty L. Lane on January 27, 1952. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Gregory (Deirdre) Clemons of Germantown Hills; two daughters, Diana (John) Denning of Pekin and Jacqueline Clemons of Watseka; twelve grandchildren, Dustin Mahrt, Maggie Mahrt, Abigail (Jeremy) Howe, Alexander, Christopher, Michael, Mary Clare, Domine, Isabelle and Anne Marie Clemons, Sheri (Branden Bushong) Denning, and John Denning, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Sebastian Howe, Shaylyn and Brennen Bushong; and several nieces and nephews.
He attended Bath-Lynchburg High School and the University of Illinois. He was in the Illinois National Guard 44th Division Battery B and stationed on active duty in Camp Cooke, California during the Korean War.
William owned Clemons Business Services, Inc. in Pekin, an accounting, taxes and consulting firm to small businesses from 1966 until his retirement in 2003.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Mark D. Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Chandlerville.
