

Born September 28, 1958 in Peoria to Bradley G. and Norma L. (Tester) Compton, he married Kimberly A. Wallis on January 26, 1980 at First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents of Creve Coeur; one son, Aaron M. (Kristin) Compton of East Peoria; one daughter, Kate L. Compton of Mackinaw; two grandchildren, Peyton Michael Compton and Tobie Michelle Compton, both of East Peoria and two sisters, Carolyn (Charles) Pierce of Groveland and Diane (Wes) Stanley of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.
Bill worked for Multax Corporation in Morton for 28 years, where he was a process engineer. He last worked in January. Prior to working at Multax, Bill worked for Caterpillar, Inc. as a tool maker in their apprentice program.
Bill was a member and a faithful Deacon at Bay View Baptist Church in Washington. Devoted to both his church and family, Bill also loved hunting, fishing, shooting skeet and motorcycle riding. He took pride in working on vehicles, especially for others, and enjoyed playing pool. He was a fan of NASCAR, the St. Louis Cardinals and for many years, played softball in several leagues in Pekin.
His memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Bay View Baptist Church in Washington. Pastor Keith D. Thibo will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the church. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bay View Baptist Church Missions Fund, 22648 Grosenbach Road, Washington, IL 61571 or to a fund he established for his grandchildren, in care of Edward Jones, 1419 Washington Road, Hillcrest Plaza, Washington, IL 61571.
