

Born May 13, 1957 in Pekin to Charles Sr. and Lustella J. (Powell) Barnett, he married Tonya S. Scott on April 6, 1984 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Misty Barney, Trisha (Bobby) Wallis, Michelle Barnett, and Veronica Barnett, all of Pekin; five grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn (Harold) Hancock of Hopedale and Veronica (Paul) Lawson of Pekin; two brothers, Charles Barnett, Jr. of Pekin and Bill's twin, Wayne Douglas (Barb) Barnett of Peoria; and special friends, James Marshall and Alan Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son (Jeremy Dean Barnett), and one granddaughter (Allison Rene' Fitzgerald).
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving from March 25, 1975 to July 22, 1977.
Bill worked for Continental Carbonics for the past 10 years, last working in January as a plant operator. Previously, he worked as a district supervisor for Texaco Oil in Jacksonville, Florida.
He attended Harvest Baptist Temple in Mackinaw.
Bill enjoyed fishing, camping, and his Harley motorcycles.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Timothy Severt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team and United States Navy.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
