

Born November 17, 1932 in Vermont to William Norvin and Nelda Lucille (Wrestler) Hammond, he married Norma Jean Sullivan on February 18, 1955 in Lewistown. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William Alan Hammond of Big Rock, Tennessee and Mark Edwin Hammond of rural Manito and one sister-in-law, Sharon (Charles) Evans of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wallace Hammond.
Bill was a Korean War Army veteran.
He retired August 1, 1992 from Caterpillar, Inc. with 41 years of service, last working as a technician in the gear lab in East Peoria.
He loved to play billiards and enjoyed attending activities at the Miller Center in Pekin.
He was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed watching sports on television.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday January 12, 2007 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery in Astoria, with military rites provided by Astoria American Legion Post 25.
