

TREMONT ~ William “Bill” Shipp, Jr., 80, of 26890 Robin Hood Lane, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at his home.
Born August 18, 1930 in Spring Valley to William Jefferson and Ever (Sanders) Shipp, Sr., he married Patricia D. Simpson on December 19, 1970 in Tremont. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ray (Bonita) Shipp and Scott (Bonnie) Shipp, both of Pekin; one daughter, Nancy Shipp of Pekin; two step-sons, Phillip “Phil” Anglin of Southern Illinois and Kim (Jeri) Rigg of Dillon; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.
In 1992, Bill retired from Laborers Local #231 after 60 years of service, last working on the construction of the former Jack’s store in Pekin. He also served as secretary/treasurer for the union for 10 years.
He was a member of Pekin Eagles Aerie 1869 and member of the Tremont American Legion Post 1236.
Bill was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He loved to hunt and fish and was a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt.
His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Gary Crull will officiate. There will be no visitation. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
