

She practiced as a psychiatrist in Pekin after her internship at Highland-Alameda County Hospital in Oakland, California and residency at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute in Los Angeles, California.
Born June 10, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Sylvester A. and Bernice (Kruse) Stanislawski, she married Albert Joseph Martens, on July 16, 1966, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Surviving are her younger sister Carol S. Ricci, Ph.D. of Moraga, California; two nieces Nicole Ricci McNelly, J.D. and Lisa Stanislawski; one nephew, Jeffrey Stanislawski; grandniece, Sloane McNelly; and two grandnephews, Murdoch McNelly and Frazer McNelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother, Ralph Stanislawski, and her husband Albert J. Martens, M.D.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Martens was class valedictorian both at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School and at Riverside High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1959 and her Medical Degree in 1962 from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Martens was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, A.O.A., and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Martens was an avid figure skater and spent many winters ice skating on the Milwaukee River with her younger sister and older brother. She also enjoyed playing the piano, gardening and home decorating. With her husband, mother, and niece Nicole Ricci, Yvonne became a world traveler and visited many areas of the world including Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Dr. Martens spent her retirement years traveling between Pekin, Illinois, Vail, Colorado and Tiburon, California; she thoroughly enjoyed going to operas, stage plays and ballets in San Francisco.
Her visitation will be on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, Illinois with recitation of the rosary at 3:30 PM. Her funeral mass will be on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, Illinois with Father Michael Andrejek as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria, Illinois.
