Aaron was born February 26, 1935 in Prospect, AL to the late Prima and Kirby Sherer. After graduating Carbon Hill High School, he started working. In the mid 50's, he got a job with the Alabama Highway Department, which brought him to Saginaw, AL working on Hwy 31. It was there he met his future wife, Mildred Vanderslice. They were married in 1957. And, they were together till Mildred passed away in 2015, 58 years!
Aaron spent the majority of his job life in the insurance business, which fit right into his outgoing, never meet a stranger personality!
And, oh, how he loved to sing-and he had beautiful voice. He would tell how while, "milking" (his chore), he would get a rhythm going, and he would compose a song...words and music! Then, on the piano, his younger sister, Sara, would play the song! What a wonderful memory!!!
With his penchant for singing and telling jokes, he did a lot of "local entertaining." He would be asked to entertain at Sunday School Gatherings, Valentine Banquets, and Civic Group events.
In his Christian walk, he loved church. And, being a charter member of Westwood Baptist in Alabaster, Westwood always held a special place in Aaron's heart...special friends!
And, you cannot talk about Aaron without mentioning his love of Golf and the Auburn Tigers. At the age of 72, he made his first Hole in One...and two more after that! Just recently, he was watching Scottie Scheffler win the Gold medal!!! Aaron lived at The Crossings at Riverchase and every Saturday, not just Football Saturday, he had on his Orange & Blue!
He is survived by his daughter, LeAnn Sherer; sister, Sara Cook; nephew, Alan Cook (Sheila); two nieces, Seconda Cook and Rhonda Witcher (Brian); grandson, Steven Wilson; granddaughter, Amy Cook (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Eliana, Caleb, and Caden; and a host of loving great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends.
