Annie Belle Davis (nee Owens) was born on April 3, 1935, to Jones Jasper Owens and Ola Naomi Acton Owens in Acton, Alabama (Shelby County). She passed away on April 2, 2026, just hours before her 91st birthday. From an early age, Annie Belle carried herself with a quiet strength and a generous heart; qualities that became the foundation of a life devoted to faith, family, and service to others.
She graduated from Thompson High School in 1953 and later attended Birmingham-Southern College for two years. She valued learning and encouragement, and she poured that same steady attention into the lives of those she loved.
On April 17, 1954, she married the love of her life, James Samuel Davis. Together they built a home marked by commitment, laughter, and the kind of love that shows up in everyday ways and endures through every season. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother to four children: James Samuel Davis, Jr. (Patti), J. Stephen Davis (Dana), Susan Davis Stamps, and J. Scott Davis (Danielle).
She was also blessed with nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and she took special pride in each one; celebrating their milestones, cheering them on, and loving them with the steady devotion that defined her life.
Annie Belle was a faithful member of Helena Methodist Church, where her life reflected a deep, steady faith and a sincere care for others.
Annie Belle dedicated 18 years of her working life to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, where she was known for her reliability and attention to detail, serving primarily as a Benefit Booklet Specialist.
She found simple happiness in the things she loved: watching University of Alabama athletics (football, baseball, and softball), cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and relaxing with her favorite old game shows and Hallmark movies.
To her children and grandchildren, Annie Belle was the kind of mother you could always count on. She patiently helped with homework, school projects, and whatever challenge was in front of her family. She offered encouragement, practical help, and a calm voice that made everything feel possible.
Annie Belle was preceded in death by her parents, Jones Jasper Owens and Ola Naomi Acton Owens, and by her beloved husband of 60 years, James Samuel Davis, Sr.
Annie Belle's life was a gift to all who knew her. Everyone was welcome and made to feel at home when they came to visit. She will be remembered for her faith, her devotion to family, and the quiet kindness she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so well and in the many lives made better by her presence.
Service information: Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
