Arthur "Ray" Grizzle

Arthur "Ray" Grizzle, age 80, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away Friday, April 26, 2019. Mr. Grizzle was born in Sylacauga, Alabama to the late Lowie and Celia Grizzle. He was preceded in death by his sisters Myrtle Isabell and Dot Wakasaki.

Ray graduated from Auburn University with an engineering degree and held a retired status professional engineering license from the state of Alabama. He retired from BE&K in Birmingham, Alabama. Ray's greatest passion in life was his family and he was an avid college sports fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jo Ann; son, Joel Grizzle (wife Judith); daughter, Joanna Hawkins (husband John E.); siblings Mamie Wilson and Ruth Watkins; grandchildren Markal Arnold, Blaine Grizzle, Lyndsey Hawkins, and John Grizzle; and great-grandchildren Bella Arnold, Sabastian Grizzle, and Asher Arnold.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham. The Celebration of Life will immediately follow beginning at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately for family.
