She was born in 1929, to the late Earl and Georgia Mae Horton of Indian Trail, North Carolina. Betty was a 1947 graduate of Fairview High School and a member of the National Honor Society. During her senior year, she was a substitute teacher for primary school, while the United States was fighting in WWII.
Left to cherish her memory is her adoring husband of 70 years, David G. Orrell; two loving daughters, April and Lisa, both of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Virginia Lee Little of Monroe, NC; and four grandsons.
A Celebration of Betty’s life will take place at Shades Valley Presbyterian Church, 2305 Montevallo Rd. Birmingham, AL 35223, on Friday, November 8, 2019, at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow.
Betty embodied Proverbs 31:10-31 and in her husband’s words, “She has crowned my life with joy."
