ROGERS, BETTY JO LOVE RAYBON, 81, of Pelham, Alabama and formerly of Montgomery, Alabama, died on Saturday, September 22, 2012 as the result of a stroke. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, J.C. Raybon, and her husband of 18 years, Claude “Dede” Rogers Sr. Betty is survived by her sister, Belle L. Swinford of Munford, Alabama; her daughter and son-in-law, Sherree and Stanley Moore of Gadsden, Alabama; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Jennifer Raybon of Hoover, Alabama; her three grandchildren, Michael Moore and Chandler and Lauren Raybon, who affectionately called her “GeeBah”; many nieces and nephews; and lots of special friends who were like sisters to her. She also forged a special bond with Dede’s son, Claude “Bud” Rogers Jr., as they cared for Dede during his four-year long nursing home stay following a stroke. Betty is also survived by her very special close friend and dance partner, H. John Bosshart of Chelsea, Alabama. Aside from her children and grandchildren, Betty’s next love in life was dancing. During the past 25 years, she taught line dancing in several venues and couples country dancing with Dede and enjoyed all types of ballroom dancing with John. Together, they belonged to several dance organizations in the Birmingham, Alabama area, and her very last evening was spent doing what she loved most – dancing! Betty’s friends will remember her as a loving and charming little southern lady, “prissy” and usually dressed in clothes that sparkled, shined or glittered, always happy and smiling, quick to laugh, eternally optimistic and a long-time fan of the diet cola, “TaB”®. The family invites you to join them on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham at 9:30 a.m. for visitation and a celebration service to follow at 11 a.m. A graveside service and burial will be held at Montgomery’s Greenwood Cemetery at 3 p.m. that afternoon. Betty would encourage you to know your risk for stroke. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Heart/Stroke Association, 1-888-4 STROKE, or your favorite charity. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matt 5:4 NIV
